4 Spring Cleaning Hacks for Your Mind, Body and Soul
Now that the weather is starting to break, you’ve likely thought about how you want to tidy up your home. But have you ever thought about doing an internal spring cleaning? One that rejuvenates your mind, body and spirit?
If so, you’ve come to the right place! Clutter can build up in our bodies and minds just as easily as it does on our counters and in our drawers. With these 4 easy hacks, you’ll be sure to start off the new season feeling light and refreshed.
Eat Less Processed Foods
The more whole foods the better! While it may not be realistic or sustainable to completely eliminate processed foods from your diet, reducing your intake can have a significant impact on your physical and mental health. Because we often have deficiencies in certain vitamins, eating a wide range of whole foods such as fruits, vegetables, and nuts will help ensure you get all the nutrients you need in a given day.
Yoga and Meditation
While we can’t control the thoughts entering our minds that create stress, we can control how we handle them once they’ve arrived. Yoga and meditation are great ways of slowing down your central nervous system to provide clarity on the stressors in your life. As the world starts to reopen, there are more than likely some great yoga studios in your area. And if you’re still not ready for that level of socializing, thankfully there are a ton of amazing yoga & meditation videos on YouTube or Instagram. We even have a short meditation series on our Journey to Zen podcast that you can try out for free.
While we agree that laughter is the best medicine, movement comes in at a very close second! As you probably know, the benchmark for an active lifestyle is 30 minutes of mild to moderate exercise daily. This can be as simple as taking a walk around your neighborhood. Exercise of all kinds are great for clearing your head as well as other physical benefits such as reducing blood pressure and increasing your overall endurance. There are a lot of ways to cultivate more movement into your day, but it’s all about finding what works for you.
Watch Out for Chemicals and Fillers in Your Supplements
There are a variety of fillers and bulking agents in well known and highly popular supplements; many of which are on the “Other Ingredients” section of their labels. These filters are typically used to reduce manufacturing costs, create a desirable consistency or texture, or to bulk on cheaper ingredients to ultimately reduce the cost of the active ingredient you’re looking for. Some common fillers include magnesium stearate, silicon dioxide, and titanium dioxide.
You deserve to know exactly what you are putting in your body, so take a few extra minutes to read ingredient labels and look out for those sneaky “other ingredients”. Thankfully Zenfuel is dedicated to radical transparency and contains absolutely zero additives— only the good stuff!
